Yamaha's NX-70A wireless hi-fi speaker has been shown publicly in Sydney, giving an early look at a compact powered model aimed at connected living-room systems. The speaker combines TV integration, multi-room operation and stereo-pair use in a single-speaker format.
The NX-70A is designed to work as a stereo pair, with either speaker assignable as the primary unit and the second acting as the secondary unit through Yamaha's MusicCast app. Pairing can be wireless, or made through an Ethernet/Cat 5 connection to reduce left-right latency.
The product sits closer to a powered hi-fi speaker than a traditional separates component. It adds a subwoofer pre-out for system expansion, an OLED status display for input, volume and system information, and expected dedicated stands.
