Yamaha launches YHT-4970U 5.1 home theater bundle

The package is aimed at buyers moving beyond soundbars while keeping the receiver, speaker system and setup cabling in one box. It also updates Yamaha’s entry home-theater-in-a-box line around the RX300A receiver platform.

Yamaha USA has announced the YHT-4970U, a new 5.1-channel home theater system built around the company’s RX300A AV receiver. The package is the successor to the YHT-4950U and gives buyers a boxed receiver-and-speaker route into component-based home cinema.

The bundle includes the RX300A receiver, a matched 5.1-channel speaker system, speaker wire and a subwoofer cable. Yamaha is positioning the RX300A and RX500A receiver family as an accessible AVR-based step for users moving beyond soundbars, with the YHT-4970U applying that approach to a complete system package.

The RX300A is also the successor to Yamaha’s RX-V385 entry-level receiver. In the YHT-4970U package, it provides the system’s video switching, surround processing, Bluetooth operation and setup interface, while leaving the loudspeaker package and cabling in the same retail bundle.
