NuPrime has introduced a new external power supply with six regulated DC outputs. The SiGa Power75 provides a maximum combined output of 75 W and is available now at a US retail price of $379.
Four 12 V DC outputs use 5.5 × 2.5 mm barrel connectors and are each rated for up to 5 A, while two 5 V USB-A outputs are each rated for up to 3 A. Compatible NuPrime equipment includes the CDT-9 CD transport at 12 V and the WR-2, Arc Mini and Stream Mini DAC at 5 V with appropriate USB power cables. Third-party equipment can also be powered where voltage, current requirements, connector dimensions and polarity are compatible.
The switching design uses silicon carbide Schottky diodes for rectification and gallium nitride transistors operating at frequencies above 500 kHz. Its Common-Mode Active Noise Cancellation circuit, abbreviated CM-ANC, has a specified operating bandwidth extending to 1 MHz and can be switched on or off using a front-panel button. A two-stage filtering and energy-storage network sits between rectification and voltage regulation, with a separate regulation stage serving the USB outputs. The design also uses polymer capacitors and a dedicated bronze shield around the GaN module.
Typical ripple at the 12 V output is specified below 1 mV RMS with active noise cancellation enabled. The combined ripple-and-noise specification is below 2.5 mV RMS over a measurement bandwidth of 10 Hz to 110 kHz. Specified conversion efficiency reaches up to 93% under a 12 V/5 A load.
A front-panel display shows output voltage, current and power consumption in real time, with a DIM control for adjusting its brightness. Two supplied DC cables have 5.5 × 2.5 mm connectors at the supply end and 5.5 × 2.1 mm plugs at the device end. An AC power cord and four self-adhesive rubber feet are also included.
