Dual has announced a prototype of its CP 707 standalone phono preamplifier. The design has a fully balanced signal path, with sales planned to begin in the second quarter of 2027 at an expected price of approximately €900.
The CP 707 extends Dual's turntable-focused portfolio into standalone phono amplification and is intended for use with both Dual turntables and models from other manufacturers. It supports moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges, with adjustable cartridge matching and multiple selectable gain settings.
The circuit uses JFET audio amplifiers and includes automatic muting to suppress switching noise. A switchable subsonic filter is also included in the design. Connections on the prototype comprise balanced XLR inputs and outputs alongside conventional RCA connections.
The hardware is housed in a shielded steel enclosure. The production version is scheduled for presentation at HIGH END Vienna 2027. Technical details remain subject to change as development of the CP 707 continues.
