Linn launches 343 loudspeaker in two configurations

Linn has introduced the 343 loudspeaker in Exakt Integrated and Passive with Active Bass (PWAB) versions, both available to order. Both use an 8-inch down-firing Pistonik bass driver and a 6-inch Pistonik upper-bass driver.

The Exakt Integrated is fully active, incorporating a Utopik power supply and an Exakt digital crossover. Its electronics also include Power DAC architecture, Organik DACs and Adaptive Bias Control amplification. The PWAB version uses Utopik power-supply and Power DAC technology for its active bass system. It requires external amplification for the upper-bass, midrange and tweeter drivers.

The down-firing bass driver operates up to 100 Hz and uses the floor as an acoustic boundary to distribute bass energy into the room. Its orientation also allows the loudspeaker's mass to oppose the driver's reactive forces. A 64 mm midrange driver and a 19 mm woven-carbon-fibre dome tweeter complete the driver complement. The Pistonik units use aluminium diaphragms, and each is laser-measured at the factory to generate a correction profile for the Exakt crossover.

The electronics module is mounted on a three-point spring isolation system. An aluminium heat sink and a top vent provide passive cooling for the module. The cabinet is made from a glass-fibre-reinforced moulding compound and has a continuous curved shape.

Each speaker stands 1.09 m high and weighs 51.6 kg. Both versions are offered in Triton, Single Malt, Clyde Built, Linn Heritage, Piano Black and Alpine White finishes. Every finish is supplied with black array trims.
