JBL introduced its Cove wireless speaker system on 1 September 2026. The JBL Cove M1, P1 and X1 form a whole-home Wi-Fi range supporting standalone, stereo-pair and multi-room playback. Announced US prices are US$229.95 for the M1, US$399.95 for the P1 and US$449.95 for the X1.
The mains-powered M1 has a 110W amplifier rating, with two 30mm tweeters, one 20mm tweeter and a 4-inch woofer. The portable P1 has a 120W amplifier rating and supports Dolby Atmos Music, using three 30mm tweeters, one 20mm tweeter and a 4-inch woofer, with one tweeter firing upwards. Its battery provides up to 14 hours of playback, and it recharges on a dock and has an IP56-rated enclosure. The X1 has a 200W amplifier rating and supports Dolby Atmos audio, with four 30mm tweeters, including one upward-firing unit, and two 4-inch racetrack-shaped woofers.
The range uses two-way speaker designs with silk-dome neodymium tweeters, and all models feature automatic self-tuning for room optimization. Constant Sound Field processing is designed to maintain tonal balance across the listening area. AI Sound Boost processing is designed to limit distortion at high output.
The speakers are managed through the JBL One app and support Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Qobuz Connect. High-resolution lossless audio playback is supported over Wi-Fi. Pressing and holding the Moment button activates Music Follows Me, which transfers music or TV audio between speakers, while Spotify Tap provides one-tap Spotify access through the same button. Alexa Built-In provides voice control, with Alexa+ access in the US for Prime members and Alexa+ subscribers.
Pairs of M1 speakers or pairs of P1 speakers can operate as wireless rear channels with compatible JBL Bar MK2 soundbars at launch, while the X1's Bar MK2 integration supports multi-room music playback. Compatible JBL Authentics speakers can join Cove for multi-room playback through AirPlay 2 or Google Cast. The JBL Spinner BT turntable can also stream vinyl playback directly to a Cove speaker over Bluetooth.
