Ferrum has launched BROEN, its first dedicated network streaming transport. The Volumio-powered component is designed as a digital source for external DACs rather than as a DAC-equipped streamer. Announced pricing is $2,275 in the United States, €1,995 in Europe and £1,995 in the United Kingdom.

BROEN uses Ferrum's SERCE DDC module as its digital-to-digital conversion output stage. The SERCE stage uses FPGA-based reclocking, ultra-low-jitter audio clocks on synchronous outputs and galvanic isolation across all audio outputs. Ferrum Streaming Control Technology links BROEN with Ferrum WANDLA DACs.

Streaming support covers Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, UPnP/DLNA rendering and AirPlay via Shairport Sync. Network connections include dual-band Wi-Fi and an SFP socket for optional RJ45 Ethernet or fiber-optic modules. Local storage is handled by an internal M.2 NVMe SSD slot for a user-supplied drive.

Digital outputs include S/PDIF coaxial, AES/EBU, S/PDIF optical, I2S over HDMI and USB DAC output over Type-A and Type-C connections. The chassis measures 21.7 x 20.6 x 5 cm and weighs 1.90 kg. BROEN can also be upgraded with Ferrum's HYPSOS power supply through Ferrum Power Link.
