Ferrum introduces WANDLA GEN2 DAC/preamp with FerrOS

The Ferrum WANDLA GEN2 forms part of a refreshed WANDLA family with separate DAC/preamp and headphone-amplifier models. The accompanying GoldenSound Plugin GEN2 supports all WANDLA models and adds Tube Mode, Impact+ and Spatial Enhancement.

Ferrum has introduced WANDLA GEN2 ahead of the Scottish Audio Show in Edinburgh. The DAC/preamp uses an ESS Sabre ES9039SPRO converter and supports PCM conversion up to 768 kHz/32-bit and DSD up to DSD512, depending on the input.

An updated SERCE platform runs FerrOS, Ferrum's new operating system, alongside the company's proprietary HQ filters and I/V converter. WANDLA GEN2 also supports Dynamic Digital Filtering and uses fully balanced operation. The design incorporates Ferrum Double Shielded Clock technology and revised internal power supplies. Its updated analogue preamp section provides analogue volume control with a bypass option, while digital volume control is available for DAC-only operation.

Digital connections include AES/EBU, optical and coaxial S/PDIF, USB-C, USB-B, ARC with CEC and I²S. RCA analogue inputs are also provided, with balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA line outputs. The WANDLA GEN2 can be paired with Ferrum's OOR headphone amplifier for a separate headphone amplification stage.

The WANDLA HP GEN2 adds an integrated headphone amplifier to the shared GEN2 platform. Its balanced headphone output is rated at 3.5 W into 50 ohms, while the single-ended output is rated at 1 W into the same load. The headphone amplifier has a stated dynamic range of 122 dB.

Ferrum's BROEN network streaming transport adds streaming to either model, with Ferrum Streaming Control Technology displaying artist and track information on the WANDLA screen. The optional HYPSOS external power supply is offered in single- and dual-output forms and uses Ferrum Power Link with 4TSD voltage sensing. Advanced MP3 Players is presenting the new range in the Voyager Suite at the Scottish Audio Show, which takes place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh Airport from 31 October to 1 November 2026.
