Computer Audio Design launches passive Network Silencer
Computer Audio Design's new Network Silencer is an Ethernet accessory for network-connected audio and video equipment. Its technology draws on a decade of development for the company's Ground Controls, USB II-R Cable, Ethernet Control and USB Control.

Computer Audio Design has launched the Network Silencer to address high-frequency noise in network-connected systems. The passive Ethernet accessory is designed to attenuate noise on both the Ethernet interface and the signal ground of connected equipment. It is available now.
The Network Silencer connects to an unused Ethernet port on a switch or router through the supplied CAD Network Silencer Cable. It operates in parallel with the Ethernet circuitry and signal ground, rather than sitting in the data path between two components. Installation and removal can take place while the system remains running, without a shutdown or reboot.
The supplied cable is engineered to transfer high-frequency noise to the unit's attenuation circuitry. It uses a custom silver-plated RJ45 shield to provide a low-impedance ground connection. The Network Silencer itself has a non-conductive acrylic enclosure, and each unit and cable assembly is hand-built and individually tested in the UK.
Connection options also include Ethernet ports on music servers, streamers, preamplifiers and amplifiers. Intended applications extend to analogue components whose network connections serve control, configuration or servicing functions, with sockets required to be intended for Ethernet use. The accessory can work alongside CAD's Ethernet Control, USB Control, Ground Controls, USB Filter and USB II-R Cable.
The announced UK price is £975 including 20% VAT, while the euro price is €1,250 including 20% VAT. The announced US price is US$1,250 excluding local tax.
