Wharfedale introduces Denton 1S Heritage loudspeaker

The compact model revisits a 1970s Denton design while moving the format into Wharfedale’s current Heritage range. Its role is practical as much as nostalgic, with placement flexibility aimed at modern rooms and smaller listening spaces.

Wharfedale has introduced the Denton 1S, a compact Heritage-series loudspeaker inspired by the original Denton 1 from 1974. The new model carries forward the earlier speaker’s rounded cabinet cues and coaxial-driver idea, but is presented as a current two-way design rather than a reissue.

The Denton line has been part of Wharfedale’s history since the 1960s, with the 1974 Denton 1 standing apart from earlier wood-veneer models through its molded enclosure and flexible orientation. The Denton 1S follows that placement-minded approach for modern domestic use, including stand, shelf and wall mounting.

Development was led by Peter Comeau, Wharfedale’s Director of Acoustic Design, with attention on integrating the coaxial driver and crossover. The speaker also includes a rear-panel Brilliance EQ switch for placement-related tonal adjustment.
