Technics launches SL-1200M7G anniversary turntable

Technics introduced the SL-1200M7G 55th Anniversary Edition turntable on 18 August 2026 to commemorate 55 years of the SL-1200 series. The US price for the limited edition is $1,599.99. Worldwide production is capped at 12,000 units, with each turntable carrying an individual serial number. Technics will offer the model in seven separate colorways.

The SL-1200M7G uses the standard SL-1200MK7 as its underlying technical platform. Its direct-drive system employs a coreless brushless DC motor. The motor is digitally controlled and uses a single-stator, single-rotor architecture. The platter is manufactured from die-cast aluminum.

The platter measures 332 mm in diameter and has an assembly weight of approximately 1.8 kg, including its slipmat and slipsheet. The S-shaped tonearm is made from aluminum. The tonearm is finished using a gold anodizing treatment. It has an effective length of 230 mm and a height-adjustment range of 0–6 mm.

The deck supports record playback at 33 1/3 rpm and 45 rpm, with 78 rpm operation selected by a switch. Pitch adjustment is available across selectable ranges of ±8% and ±16%. Starting torque is 0.18 N·m, and the platter reaches 33 1/3 rpm from a standstill in 0.7 seconds. Technics specifies wow and flutter at 0.025% W.R.M.S.

Technics released the SL-1200M7L 50th Anniversary Edition in 2022. That earlier model was offered in seven colors, and its worldwide production was limited to 12,000 units. Worldwide availability for the SL-1200M7G is scheduled to begin in September 2026.
