Technics introduced the SL-1200M7G 55th Anniversary Edition direct-drive turntable through its US website on 18 August 2026. The model marks 55 years of the SL-1200 series and carries a US price of $1,599.99. It is scheduled for global release in September 2026. Technics will limit total worldwide production to 12,000 units across the anniversary run.

The SL-1200M7G is based directly on the SL-1200MK7, which provides the underlying platform for this limited anniversary version. The model will be offered in seven colorways within the single worldwide production run. The seven choices are color variants of the same SL-1200M7G anniversary model. The turntable uses a universal static-balance tonearm in an S-shaped format.

The motor is both brushless and coreless, and it operates in a direct-drive configuration. Starting torque is 0.18 N·m. From standstill, the platter reaches 33⅓ rpm in 0.7 seconds. The turntable has a wow-and-flutter rating of 0.025% W.R.M.S.

The model supports 33⅓, 45 and 78 rpm playback. Pitch adjustment is selectable over ±8% and ±16% ranges. The ±8% setting is narrower, and the ±16% setting provides the wider adjustment span. Together, the playback-speed and pitch-adjustment specifications define the model’s available speed-control settings.

The chassis measures 453 × 169 × 353 mm, and the turntable weighs approximately 9.6 kg. The 18 August introduction comes ahead of the model’s planned worldwide release in the following month. The September release will draw from the same 12,000-unit worldwide production run. The SL-1200M7G is scheduled for global release in September 2026.
