Pro-Ject has introduced a new turntable in its Debut range. The Debut Carbon The Original uses belt drive and an 8.6-inch one-piece carbon tonearm. Its UK launch is scheduled for November 2026 at £499 through Henley Audio’s dealer network.

The drive system uses an AC motor powered by a DC/AC generator, with TPE suspension to decouple the motor from the plinth. A glass-fibre-reinforced ABS sub-platter supports a 300 mm steel platter weighing 1.7 kg. The turntable plays records at 33 and 45 rpm, with manual speed changes. Specified wow and flutter is ±0.17% at 33 rpm and ±0.15% at 45 rpm, while the specified signal-to-noise ratio is 68 dB.

The tonearm uses a CNC-milled aluminium bearing block, an adaptive anti-skating mechanism and a TPE-damped counterweight. It has an effective mass of 7 g and an overhang of 18.5 mm. A pre-adjusted Pick it S2 MM cartridge is fitted. Manufactured by Ortofon and tuned by Pro-Ject, the cartridge has an elliptical stylus.

The CNC-machined high-density MDF plinth has solid internal construction, and the turntable is hand-made in Europe. Finish options are High Gloss Black, Satin Black and Real Wood Walnut. The unit measures 415 × 118 × 320 mm, in width, height and depth, and has a net weight of 5.5 kg.

Supplied accessories include a Connect it Phono E RCA cable, an acrylic dust cover, a felt mat and a 7-inch single adapter. Power comes from an included 15 V DC, 0.8 A supply, with specified consumption of 4 W during operation and 0 W in standby. Pro-Ject guarantees spare-parts availability for its phono products for 25 years.
