Jamo launches HYG 5 wireless speaker with wave controls

Jamo launched its HYG 5 wireless speaker on 20 October 2026. The all-in-one model wakes with a palm wave and resumes playback from the last-used source. Its European recommended retail price is €399, with UK and US launch prices of £349 and $399 respectively.

The speaker combines two 2.5-inch full-range drivers, angled upwards and outwards, with a 4-inch down-firing woofer. Integrated amplification delivers 30 W RMS, divided into 5 W for each full-range driver and 20 W for the woofer. Two symmetrical, downward-facing bass-reflex ports have flared openings and ribbed internal walls. The specified frequency response is 45 Hz to 18 kHz at ±6 dB, with in-room bass extension to 40 Hz and a maximum sound pressure level of 96 dB.

Network connectivity uses dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, with support for audio resolutions up to 24-bit/96 kHz. Streaming options include Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, TuneIn and QPlay II. AirPlay 2 and Google Cast provide casting and multiroom playback.

Bluetooth 5.0 supports the SBC and AAC codecs, while a stereo RCA line input provides an analogue connection. The Jamo Play app, available for iOS and Android, provides speaker control and EQ adjustment. The speaker also has a touch interface that dims in standby.

The fabric-covered enclosure incorporates an ambient light ring whose brightness adjusts automatically to the room lighting. The ring can also be adjusted manually through the app or switched off completely. Danish agency Unmute developed the speaker’s operational sounds, drawing inspiration from Nordic nature sounds and acoustic instruments.
