Esoteric announced the N-01XE Network/DAC, a network player and digital-to-analogue converter, on 1 September 2026. The N-01XE succeeds the N-01XD SE as Esoteric’s next model in this part of its product line. Its internal architecture incorporates core technologies derived from the company’s flagship model.

The N-01XE uses Esoteric’s Master Sound Discrete DAC G2 as its digital-to-analogue conversion stage. That DAC employs an in-house, FPGA-based multilevel delta-sigma architecture to perform conversion inside the component. Each channel is built around 32 individual discrete converter elements in the G2 implementation. Playback support extends to DSD sampling frequencies of 22.5 MHz and PCM sampling frequencies of 768 kHz.

The network section is based on Esoteric’s Network Engine G4, the fourth generation of the company’s network platform for the N-01XE. An RJ45 Ethernet interface provides a wired network connection for the player’s network playback section. The chassis also provides an SFP optical-network port, giving the network engine a separate physical interface for optical network connections.

Power for the N-01XE is divided among five independent linear power supplies assigned to different internal sections. One supply is dedicated to the left DAC channel, and a second independent unit powers the right DAC channel. The Network Engine G4 receives its own linear supply, separate from the unit allocated to the digital circuitry. The fifth supply powers the microcontroller independently from the converter, network and digital sections.

Worldwide shipment of the Esoteric N-01XE is scheduled to begin in November 2026.
