Davis Acoustics has introduced a floorstanding loudspeaker designed for low-powered amplifiers, including single-ended 300B tube designs. The Davis Acoustics Renoir Evolution is a three-way model with a rated sensitivity of 94 dB. It is available in Europe at €14,990 per pair.
The bass section uses a 12-inch (31 cm) woofer with a cellulose-pulp cone and a magnetic system weighing approximately 10 kg. A front-facing laminar bass-reflex port completes the low-frequency enclosure. The speaker has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, a minimum impedance of 5 ohms and a stated frequency response of 28 Hz to 28 kHz.
A separate module above the wider bass enclosure houses the midrange driver and tweeter. The midrange uses a 6.3-inch (16 cm) Kevlar cone with a stationary phase plug, while the tweeter has a 28 mm aramid-fibre cone. All three drivers and the complete loudspeaker are manufactured in France.
Each speaker measures 110 × 40 × 44 cm and weighs approximately 100 kg. The finish options are natural walnut and orange lacquer. The Renoir Evolution is also the first Davis Acoustics loudspeaker developed in collaboration with Absolue Créations.
The model belongs to the Capsule Collection, which accommodates loudspeakers outside the conventional categories of Davis Acoustics' regular range. The manufacturer's lineup also places the MV One Master, Nikita 3.0 and Olympia 2 Master within Capsule. Renoir Evolution therefore joins a collection that spans several models rather than forming a standalone product line.
