DALI introduces Basik Sub for compact audio systems

The Basik Sub is designed primarily for smaller stereo systems and is also intended for home-theater use. DALI identifies its Kupid and Sonik 1 bookshelf speakers as natural partners.

DALI has introduced the Basik Sub, a compact active subwoofer. The model uses a DALI-designed 8-inch long-excursion woofer in a downward-firing configuration. It is scheduled to reach authorized dealers worldwide in October 2026.

The woofer has a paper-pulp cone and a motor assembly built around an oversized ferrite magnet in a high-flux magnetic circuit. Its long, vented voice coil is intended to improve heat dissipation and reduce compression at higher output levels. A Class D amplifier delivers 170 W continuously, with peak output of 220 W. The electronics also include a switch-mode power supply and a two-stage overload limiter.

Rear-panel connections comprise stereo Line L/R inputs and a separate mono LFE input. The crossover is adjustable from 40 to 120 Hz, while phase adjustment is continuous from 0 to 180 degrees. An independent level control completes the adjustment options.

The bass-reflex enclosure is constructed from MDF and sits on four decoupled feet that raise it 25 mm above the floor. The cabinet measures 319 × 295 × 310 mm, and the subwoofer weighs 9.75 kg. Finish options are Solid Black, Solid White, Caramel White, Golden Yellow and Chilly Blue. The palette is coordinated with DALI's compact speakers, particularly the Kupid and Sonik ranges.

Power settings comprise On, Auto and Off modes. In Auto mode, the subwoofer enters standby after approximately 20 minutes without an incoming signal. Standby power consumption is 0.4 W.
