Audioengine has introduced the A2 Plus Gen 3 compact powered stereo speakers with aptX Adaptive Bluetooth support. The pair costs $299 in the United States and is available through Audioengine and authorised retailers.

The system incorporates amplification and a digital-to-analogue converter, with the electronics housed in one speaker. A supplied cable connects that speaker to the second cabinet to form the stereo pair. Each cabinet contains a 2.75-inch aramid-fibre woofer for lower and middle frequencies, alongside a 0.75-inch silk-dome tweeter.

The wireless connection uses Bluetooth 5.3, with aptX HD, aptX, AAC and LC3 supported alongside the headline codec. For wired digital sources, the speakers accept audio through USB-C. RCA and 3.5mm analogue inputs provide additional connection options. An RCA output allows a powered subwoofer to be connected to the system.

The A2 Plus Gen 3 is designed for use on desks, shelves and small tables. Finish options comprise Matte Black, Matte Green, Hi-Gloss Piano White, Hi-Gloss Red and Hi-Gloss Limoncello Yellow.
