Magnat has introduced a new compact subwoofer for music and home cinema. The Magnat Base 8 is an active design with a 200 mm (8-inch) long-throw woofer and a recommended retail price of €279. It is available from mid-September 2026.
The downward-firing woofer uses a coated paper cone, a Klippel-optimised magnet system and a ventilated voice coil. Two rear-mounted Airflex bass-reflex ports form part of the enclosure design. The subwoofer has a specified low-frequency extension of 36 Hz.
A built-in Class-D amplifier supplies a rated 70 W RMS, with maximum output rated at 140 W. Connections comprise stereo RCA low-level inputs and a separate LFE input.
The crossover frequency is adjustable from 50 to 150 Hz, and a volume control sets the subwoofer's level. A phase switch offers settings of 0° and 180°.
The cabinet is made from MDF and has a satin-black finish, with resonance-damping feet underneath. It measures 25 cm wide, 31.2 cm high and 32 cm deep. The complete subwoofer weighs 6.8 kg.
