Magico introduces A3 2027 with new cabinet and crossover

The A3 2027 succeeds the original A3 in Magico's A Series. Development used the same measurement instruments employed for the company's M9 loudspeaker.

Magico announced its A3 2027 loudspeaker in Hayward, California, on 1 October 2026. The three-way, four-driver floorstanding model has an announced UK price of £28,998 per pair. UK availability through distributor Absolute Sounds is expected in the first part of 2027.

Each drive unit was designed specifically for this model, with a 28mm pure-beryllium-diaphragm tweeter using a new neodymium-based motor. The 5-inch midrange driver and two 7-inch bass drivers have cones constructed from aluminium-honeycomb cores sandwiched between carbon-fibre skins. The midrange uses a new long-life foam surround and a motor system incorporating a pure titanium voice coil and pure copper shorting rings. The bass drivers share the midrange's new cone geometry and motor system, and were optimised using finite-element-analysis simulation.

The new crossover uses Magico's Elliptical Symmetry Crossover techniques and Mundorf EB GmbH components, with an acoustical-target 24dB Linkwitz-Riley slope. Specified sensitivity is 87dB and impedance is 4 ohms, with a recommended amplifier-power range of 50W to 300W. The specified frequency response extends from 25Hz to 50kHz.

The newly designed aluminium enclosure uses constrained-layer damping, with laser vibrometer measurements guiding the placement of cabinet bracing and damping. A Near-Field Scanner robot measured the surrounding three-dimensional sound field during acoustic optimisation. The cabinet has radiused vertical edges and a precision-machined base that mirrors that geometry. The speaker also has a bespoke support system.

The enclosure's bead-blasted, anodised aluminium panels have a satin texture, with black, silver, red and blue finish options. Each speaker measures 23.5cm wide, 28cm deep and 109.5cm high. Weight is 59.4kg per speaker.
