iFi launches iDSD GR 2 portable DAC and headphone amplifier

iFi audio launched the iDSD GR 2, a portable DAC and headphone amplifier. The new model succeeds the xDSD Gryphon in the company's portable DAC and headphone-amplifier range. It was introduced for the German market on 12 August 2026 with an announced price of €549. Its United States price is $529.

The digital conversion section is built around a Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC chipset. It supports PCM playback at sample rates up to 768kHz and DSD playback up to DSD512. K2HD processing is incorporated into the digital design. The iDSD GR 2 also has a capacitive OLED colour touchscreen, combining colour display and touch input in one panel.

The amplifier section provides balanced 4.4mm and S-Balanced 3.5mm headphone outputs. iFi rates power from the balanced output at 1,513mW into a 32Ω load. The rating from that output into 600Ω is 119mW. For analogue sources, balanced 4.4mm and single-ended 3.5mm connections feed the amplifier section.

For wired digital sources, the iDSD GR 2 accepts USB-C and optical/coaxial S/PDIF connections. Bluetooth 5.4 provides the unit's wireless input connection. Supported Bluetooth audio formats include aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, aptX, LDAC and LHDC/HWA. AAC and SBC format support is also included.

The portable chassis has overall dimensions of 141 × 75 × 19mm, and the complete unit weighs 268g. It contains a 4,900mAh lithium-polymer battery for portable operation. iFi estimates battery life at approximately seven hours between charges. The approximate charging time is 3.5 hours.
