Bose has expanded its open-ear range with Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) and Sport Open Earbuds. The Ultra model is rated for up to nine hours of earbud playback and is scheduled to go on sale from 1 October 2026. Both models are available to preorder through Bose Australia.
The Ultra earbuds retain a cuff-style form and use Bose OpenAudio technology, positioning the driver outside the ear canal so surrounding sounds remain audible. The second-generation model incorporates a newly engineered driver and SpeechClarity technology for calls. Auto Volume adjusts playback level in response to changes in ambient noise.
A Cinema Mode powered by Bose TrueSpatial technology processes video, podcasts and other content without requiring specially encoded spatial material. The Ultra charging case provides a further 19.5 hours of battery life. Wireless charging is supported on both new models.
The Sport earbuds use a flexible C-shaped cuff with a soft silicone finish intended to provide comfort and grip during exercise. Physical buttons control playback, calls and volume, while an IP54 rating covers resistance to dust and splashes. Custom dynamic drivers work with the OpenAudio acoustic design to direct sound towards the ear while limiting leakage. The Sport model also includes Auto Volume adjustment in response to ambient noise.
Bluetooth multipoint on the Sport earbuds allows connections to two compatible devices. Their rated battery life is up to seven hours, with another 22 hours available from the charging case. Sport Open Earbuds availability varies by market.
