Adam Audio has introduced two DSP-controlled subwoofers for professional studios. The Adam Audio Sub8 PRO and Sub10 PRO feature onboard crossover, filtering and equalisation processing. The Sub8 PRO is available at a recommended retail price of €999.99, while the Sub10 PRO is priced at €1,299.99.
The Sub8 PRO uses an 8-inch woofer and has a specified frequency range of 26–300 Hz and maximum sound-pressure level of 105 dB. The Sub10 PRO uses a 10-inch woofer, with a specified range of 21–300 Hz and maximum sound-pressure level of 106 dB. Both combine fibre-reinforced paper cones and rubber surrounds with Class-D amplification. Their wooden enclosures have protective metal grilles and bass-reflex ports optimised using finite-element analysis.
The free Adam Control software for Windows and macOS provides EQ, level, phase and delay adjustment for both models over Ethernet. Filter profiles created with Sonarworks SoundID Reference can be stored on the subwoofers’ onboard DSP. An LFE mode provides a crossover setting tailored to Dolby Atmos workflows. A separate Wide mode covers each model’s full available frequency range.
Both subwoofers provide AES3 digital audio connectivity supporting signals up to 24-bit/96 kHz. A combined XLR/TRS connection accepts analogue signals on each model. Both also include a footswitch bypass input for switching bass management. The Sub10 PRO additionally provides analogue XLR outputs.
Users of the new subwoofers receive a 60-day trial of SoundID Reference. A 25 percent discount applies to a subsequent purchase of the calibration software.
