Western Acoustics has introduced the Type 2.1, a compact passive bookshelf loudspeaker positioned as an evolution of the company’s original Type 2. The launch gives the brand a new model in a category where cabinet scale, room placement and system matching remain central buying considerations.
The Type 2.1 is presented as a development of the earlier design, with a redesigned crossover, double the headroom and improved horn geometry. eCoustics and HiFi.Fan place the model’s debut at AXPONA 2026.
The cabinet uses Baltic birch construction with maple veneer and a natural polyurethane topcoat. Western Acoustics specifies a rear-ported bass-reflex enclosure, so rear-wall spacing will be part of setup for buyers, dealers and show demonstrators.
