FiiO has introduced a new CD player for desktop hi-fi systems. The FiiO DP11 combines CD playback and digital transport functions with an internal Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC, and is now listed through HiFiGo in the US.
Stereo RCA analogue outputs allow the player to connect directly to an amplifier or active speakers. AES, coaxial and optical digital outputs provide connections for use as a transport with an external DAC.
The DP11 can rip CDs directly to USB storage, saving the recordings as lossless WAV files. It can also function as a USB digital interface for a computer, phone or tablet, giving it a role with external digital sources as well as discs.
The player uses a tray-loading CD mechanism with optimised servo control. Its mechanism support structure is designed to reduce mechanical noise during playback. Power can come from the internal AC supply or an external 12V/2A DC supply.
A 3.71-inch LCD shows playback information, and a remote control is included. The chassis measures 213 × 230 × 67 mm and weighs 1.8 kg, with black and silver finishes offered. The unit is designed to sit on a desk or equipment rack.
