Apple TV 4K owners enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program can access tvOS 27 public-beta software. The update adds Apple Music Hi-Res Lossless Audio to tvOS for playback through compatible external speaker outputs. The new software features are scheduled for a free update in fall 2026.

Apple has opened tvOS 27 public-beta access for Apple TV 4K, adding Apple Music Hi-Res Lossless Audio to its TV operating system. The beta is available to Apple TV 4K owners enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program. The new software features are due as a free update in fall 2026.
Hi-Res Lossless is the central audio change for Apple Music on tvOS 27. The feature works through Apple TV 4K with compatible external speaker outputs. It extends Apple Music playback on tvOS beyond the Lossless tier available on tvOS 26.
tvOS 27 also adds AutoMix support to Apple Music on tvOS. The update brings a redesigned Apple Podcasts app to the platform. AirPlay wireless connections to other Apple devices are improved, including HomePods used for TV audio.
Apple lists tvOS 27 among the next software releases available through beta enrollment. Public-beta access is available now for enrolled Apple TV 4K owners, ahead of the free software update planned for fall 2026.
