Acoustic Energy has previewed the AE2 40th Anniversary Edition at the North West Audio Show in Cheshire. The limited-time standmount loudspeaker uses a larger two-way layout based on the anniversary AE1 driver platform. Availability is scheduled from September 2026.

Acoustic Energy previewed the AE2 40th Anniversary Edition at the North West Audio Show in Cheshire. The limited-time standmount loudspeaker revives the AE2 line through the 1990s AE2 Signature lineage. Availability is scheduled from September 2026.

The AE2 40th Anniversary Edition builds on the AE1 40th Anniversary driver platform. It uses a 29mm anodised aluminium dome tweeter and two 125mm spun hard-anodised aluminium cone mid/bass drivers. The two-way layout places the extra mid/bass driver in a larger offset MTM configuration.

The cabinet uses triple reflex porting and 18-32mm RSC constrained-layer HDF and bitumen construction. Acoustic Energy also lines the cabinet with 3mm steel plates. The speaker has a specified frequency range of 35Hz-45kHz at +/-6dB, 88dB/m/2.83V sensitivity and 200W power handling. Impedance is specified at 6 ohms, and the crossover frequency is 2.2kHz.

Each loudspeaker measures 385 x 235 x 315mm HWD and weighs 14.5kg. Finish options are High Gloss Walnut and High Gloss Black. The AE2 40th Anniversary Edition is intended for rooms larger than around 25 square metres, and its public preview took place at De Vere Cranage Estate on 27 and 28 June 2026.
