Cayin has added the Jazz 70 to its integrated amplifier range. The Cayin Jazz 70 integrated valve amplifier is rated at 35 watts RMS per channel in Ultralinear mode and 17 watts in Triode mode. It is available through US retailer MusicTeck.
The amplifier uses four EL34 output valves in a Class AB1 push-pull circuit, with three 12AU7/ECC82 valves in the preamplifier stage. A top-panel switch selects between the two operating modes. Construction includes handmade point-to-point wiring, a handmade low-magnetic-leakage toroidal power transformer and EI output transformers.
For wired sources, the Jazz 70 provides three RCA line-level inputs. Wireless playback uses Bluetooth 5.1 with a Qualcomm QCC5125 receiver, while digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by an ESS ES9018K2M DAC. Supported Bluetooth formats include LDAC, aptX HD, aptX LL, aptX, AAC, MP3 and SBC. The specified wireless range is up to 10 metres.
Separate speaker connections accommodate 4-ohm and 8-ohm loads, and the front headphone output is specified for headphones with impedances from 16 to 300 ohms. Two illuminated front meters display playback signal level and assist with output-valve bias adjustment. The analogue inputs have a specified sensitivity of 380mV and an impedance of 100kΩ.
The specified frequency response is 8Hz to 60kHz at -3dB, with an A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio of 100dB. Total harmonic distortion is specified at 0.2% at 1W/1kHz and less than 5% at rated output. The chassis measures 300 × 338 × 190mm and weighs 15.6kg, with a choice of black or silver front panel. Maximum power consumption is specified at 240W.
