AVM introduces Evolution PH 3.3 and PH 5.3 phono preamps
The two phono preamplifiers support moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges. Their optional input modules derive from the modular system used in AVM's Ovation PH 8.3.

AVM has added two phono preamplifiers to its Evolution range. The AVM Evolution PH 3.3 uses fully solid-state circuitry, while the Evolution PH 5.3 has a proprietary tube line output stage. Both models are available through authorised AVM dealers in Europe.
The PH 5.3's tubes have a rated life of approximately 20,000 hours. Both preamplifiers offer five gain settings, with six impedance settings for moving-coil cartridges and six capacitance settings for moving-magnet designs. Each also provides six equalisation curves and mono/stereo switching.
The supplied RC 3 PH infrared remote controls gain, cartridge loading, phase inversion and a switchable subsonic filter, while cartridge settings can also be adjusted through the front panels. Each model has one rear expansion slot accepting an optional MC XLR, MC RCA or MM RCA input module. Both provide balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs.
The preamplifiers use screwless aluminium enclosures measuring 43 cm wide. Standard finishes are Aluminium Silver and Brushed Black, with a Cellini edition featuring a hand-polished chrome fascia also offered. In the standard finishes, the PH 3.3 costs €4,990 and the PH 5.3 costs €5,990.
Both models are hand-assembled in Malsch, Germany. Each unit undergoes multiple quality inspections and a multi-day burn-in before dispatch.
